March 2018

As usual, there was a ‘double bill’ of entertainment and interest for visitors to our Memory CafĂ© on March 5th. Firstly we welcomed Graham Kemp and his ‘Drums4Fun’ who joined us for a return visit. There was an extended variety of percussion instruments for us to try and after some careful listening to different sounds and rhythms everyone enjoyed joining in a ‘practical drumming fiesta’ and had a go at a music-based quiz!
The session ended appropriately with ‘Trelawney’ and a rousing ‘Oggy, oggy, oggy!- it was apparent that everyone had a good time.’
It was great fun and by teatime we were all gasping for a cup of tea to accompany the usual delicious refreshments. There was a surprise in store today, as the special date hadn't escaped our notice – St. Piran’s Day!

Thanks to our friends at Crantock Bakery there were Cornish pasties for everyone along with saffron cake, as well as the usual delicious homemade biscuits and cakes. As a medley of Cornish tunes played in the background we all ‘tucked in’ and then enjoyed the chance to have a look at our Cornish display, which included a selection of books, photos, flags, Cornish tartan, Newlyn copper and much more!

After tea there was a variety of Cornish picture quizzes to tackle and a ‘Cornish Saints’ word-search to puzzle over, as well as time for a chat.

It was certainly a St Piran’s Day to remember, as well as a great opportunity to get out of the house after the cold and snowy weather of the previous week.
We look forward to meeting up again from 2pm – 4pm on March 19th at Crantock Village Hall. New members, who have a degree of memory loss, are always welcome to come along with their carers, and should you require more information please contact Di on 01637 830544 or Joan on 01637 831347
