As
guests arrived for our second Memory Café of the month, the usual friendly
greetings and chatter soon filled the Village Hall. There was a word-search to
puzzle over on the tables as well as this week’s edition of the ‘Sparkle’
magazine, sponsored by The Bowgie Inn, together with a quiz to accompany it.
Our
entertainment for the afternoon was provided by ‘Sunny Side Up’ a family of
ukulele players comprising father Tim and his son and daughter Harry and
Frankie who have recently been featured on local radio and television.
We were
soon enjoying their up-beat selection of music and joining in with percussion
accompaniment and voices – we’re good at that! There were some new songs as
well as more familiar numbers, and there was a chance for everyone to have a go
at playing a couple of chords on a selection of brightly coloured ukuleles, to
accompany the final song with some pleasing results. It was great fun and a
chance to try something different!
Tea
time soon came around with the usual selection of delicious cakes as well as a
very welcome ‘cuppa’ before we settled in for a game of bingo which is always
popular: today’s version involved identifying and matching an interesting
selection of unusual ‘creepy-crawlies’ which ranged from wasps and weevils to
beetles and butterflies!
Soon
it was time for Richard to give the answers to the ‘Sparkle’ quiz before the
lively afternoon came to an end.
We look forward to meeting up again from 2pm – 4pm on Monday
7th May (May Day Holiday) and again on Monday 21st May at
Crantock Village Hall. We are always pleased to welcome new members with a
degree of memory loss, and should you require more information please contact
